Welcome to Our School!
About Our School
James Stephens International Academy educates students in grades K through 8. Opened in 2009, James Stephens International Academy was formed by the merging of Lee Middle School and Michigan International Academy. With a rigorous and engaging curriculum, along with a team of dedicated teachers and staff, we proudly educate nearly 900 students each day.
Success for Certain!
The mission of James Stephens International Academy is to collaboratively research, design and provide an interrelated and trans disciplinary curriculum that is rigorous and relevant for all students. We will provide an environment of trust, respect, and dedication with cultural understanding which will build a foundation of success for educational excellence.
Our teachers, staff and administration will provide a safe, caring environment which fosters the growth of the whole person. Together, we will model an appreciation of differences and a consideration of the world as our neighbor. This meaningful and strategic foundation will guide our students toward becoming responsible citizens who demonstrate positive leadership at home and abroad.

- We would like to welcome Friendship Baptist Church as one our business partners. Thanks to their generous donation, we were able to enhance the education for our students at JSIA. Thanks again to Pastor Bing and the congregation of Friendship Baptist Church.

"Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Hate multiplies hate, violence multiplies violence, and toughness multiplies toughness in a descending spiral of destruction." -Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., "Loving your Enemies," in Strength to Love.
Once again, the Bobby Nichols-Fiddlesticks Charity Foundation has made a generous donation to James Stephens International Academy's Blessings in a Backpack program. The Bobby Nichols-Fiddlesticks Charity Foundation has provided our backpack program for the 2013/2014 school year. Their donation of $60,000 has allowed our school to provide nutritious meals on the weekends for our K-8 grade students. We would like to thank the foundation for their generous donation of a new motorized cart to assist us in delivery of the food to each classroom around campus. Our middle school students are an integral role in this program. Each week Volunteers and students assist with passing out the food for the backpacks. We couldn’t do it without them. Our amazing family volunteers all lead the way in helping our program be a complete success. If you would like to be apart of this program don't hesitate to contact us.
